Rhinoplasty Conveniently located to serve Memphis and Shelby County
A rhinoplasty, or nose job, is a cosmetic surgery procedure carried out to improve the shape or functionality of a patient’s nose. Subtle changes to the nose can enhance a person’s entire facial appearance. If you are embarrassed about how your nose looks or are experiencing breathing issues, this procedure may be right for you.
Rhinoplasty can be used to correct nasal deformities that were present at birth. It can also be done on individuals who have sustained an injury to the nose or find it difficult to breathe due to their nasal structure.

How to Prepare for Your Rhinoplasty
The first step in rhinoplasty surgery is the consultation. During a consultation with Dr. Williams, the two of you will discuss your goals for your nasal surgery. You will need to tell Dr. Williams your complete medical history, including medications you are taking and past procedures that have been performed.
Dr. Williams will examine your nose and your facial structure. He will tell you more about rhinoplasty and what to expect, and you will be able to look at before-and-after photos and ask any questions that you may have.
Because a rhinoplasty is an intense surgical procedure that involves anesthesia, you may need to arrange for a friend or family member to drive you home from the facility after your surgery. They should stay the night to help out as needed.
You will be advised to stop taking NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) before your surgery to help avoid complications. If you are a smoker, quitting in the time before the operation will be required in order to reduce the chances of infection and aid healing.
Your Customized Rhinoplasty Procedure
Rhinoplasty is a complex surgical procedure and should only be performed by a licensed and trained surgical professional like Dr. Williams.
No two patients are the same, and Dr. Williams recognizes this when he creates a surgical plan for a rhinoplasty procedure. He will customize your treatment program according to your unique needs. This will include which kind of anesthesia to use and which techniques to include in your rhinoplasty surgery.
At the start of the procedure, anesthesia is administered. Once it has taken effect, incisions are made inside the nostrils (closed rhinoplasty) or on the skin between the nostrils (open rhinoplasty). With open rhinoplasty, the nasal skin is carefully lifted for greater access.
After this, bone, cartilage, and/or soft tissue are repositioned. Cartilage from the patient’s ear, septum, or rib may be used to create a graft. Grafts can help to strengthen the patient’s nasal structure. Once all adjustments have been made, the incisions are closed with stitches.
Recovery After the Surgery
The recovery process after rhinoplasty surgery is incredibly important and can determine the final look of your results. The tissues of the nose will be weakened for a time, and so great care will need to be taken in order to ensure that no injuries occur. A split or cast and nasal packing may be in place to help the tissues heal properly.
Avoid blowing your nose during the recovery process if at all possible. If you must blow your nose, do it as gently as possible. Additionally, avoid playing sports and taking part in any other activities that could potentially cause nasal trauma.
You will need to take some time off from your job in order to heal. Bruising and swelling will be present but will fade, and ice packs can aid in this process.
Cost of Rhinoplasty
The cost of Rhinoplasty procedure may vary, starting at $4,000.
