What is the Brazilian Butt Lift?
Important Information
Understanding the Brazilian Butt Lift
During a Brazilian butt lift, the surgeon extracts fat from one part of the patient’s body and processes it before injecting it into the buttocks. This technique helps in:
- Adding volume to the buttocks
- Enhancing the roundness of the buttocks
- Adding greater volume to your upper butt area, thereby creating the illusion of a beautiful lift
Besides this, the Brazilian butt lift is also helpful in shaping other areas of the body. The technique of fat grafting is utilized in a Brazilian butt lift surgery. This involves removal of your own natural fat from a specific area of the body, such as the thighs, arms, hips, or abdomen, shrinking the area. This fat is what is used to plump the buttocks.
Below are the common problems faced by candidates of the Brazilian butt lift:
- A flat buttocks
- An asymmetrical buttocks
- A sagging buttocks
- Extreme weight loss causing a change in the shape of the buttocks
- A disproportionate or small buttocks
In order to qualify as a good candidate for this butt augmentation procedure, you should have sufficient fat in other body areas.
The Procedure
The Brazilian Butt Lift Procedure
The fat extraction in a Brazilian butt lift is typically performed through gentle liposuction. The processing of fat involves separating out dead and damaged fat cells and excess fluid, leaving only the healthiest fat cells for implantation. In the final step, the extracted fat is injected into your buttocks.
The re-injection of purified fat into the buttocks involves the use of several hundred micro injections. Small quantities of purified fat will be injected into various parts of the buttocks at varying depths using special cannulas. This helps in achieving maximum permanent absorption rate. Following the correct injection technique creates a smooth, natural, and uniform appearance for the buttocks.
After this step, incisions are made from the elbows to the armpits on the backs or insides of the upper arms. Depending on the amount of tissue to be removed, the incisions may be shorter or longer.
Loose excess skin is then removed from the upper arms with a scalpel. Any deposits of excess stubborn fat are removed with the help of liposuction using a tool called a cannula. The remaining skin is redraped tightly around the arm’s new contours, and then the incisions are closed with stitches.
After Surgery
It is natural for the butt to be a bit swollen and enlarged immediately after the surgery. This is because there is newly fat in the area. The swelling is temporary and will disappear within a few weeks. Naturally, with the decrease in swelling, the new size of your butt will also decrease a bit. Over the coming few months, transplanted fat that fails to survive will be lost. Therefore, you will have to wait at least three months in order to notice the final results of the surgery.
During the recovery period, it is necessary that you avoid putting any unnecessary pressure on your buttocks by sitting too much on it. It is best to try and sleep on your sides or on the stomach. Also, try and place your weight on the thighs instead of the buttocks when sitting. You will be able to resume normal walking a day after the surgery.
